The Chair of Professional Development is responsible for organizing and promoting professional development events, including the PD After Hours event, to advance the skills and knowledge of PYP members.
Key Responsibilities:
- Organizes and executes professional and personal development events and activities.
- Assists with managing the development@pensacolayp.com email to facilitate communication regarding professional development initiatives.
- Oversees the planning, setup, and cleanup of professional development events ensuring an engaging and well-coordinated experience for attendees.
- Manages member and attendee check-in at professional development events to ensure a welcoming and organized experience.
- Assists with capturing photos at professional development events to document participation and promote engagement within the community.
- Assists with identifying sponsorships and partnerships to support professional development events.
- Assists the Vice President of Development with managing the job board, identifying relevant career resources, and supporting other professional development initiatives.
- Sources and secures speakers and presenters for professional development events to enrich the member experience and expand professional networks.
The Chair of Professional Development reports to the Vice President of Development and serves on the Development Committee, playing a crucial role in fostering professional growth among PYP members.
Responsibilities of Chairs as Members of the Leadership Team
The mission of Pensacola Young Professionals is to develop, retain, and connect young professionals to the community and each other. Chair positions are a part of the leadership team, but are not voting members of the Board of Directors. Chair positions are entry-level positions designed to provide members with opportunities to get involved in the organization and learn more about the organization.
Each individual Chair is expected to:
- Know the organization’s mission, policies, programs, and needs
- Participate fully in their committee and attend board meetings when called upon
- Prepare for and attend all program meetings
- Regularly attend organizational events and provide assistance as needed
- Serve as active advocates and ambassadors for the organization and assist with identifying financial resources, sponsorship opportunities, and partnerships necessary for the organization to advance its mission
- Help identify personal connections that can benefit the organization’s fundraising and reputational standing
- Communicate with PYP members—new and established—to solicit their ideas and help them become/remain actively engaged in the organization
- Raise any general membership matters at committee meetings or to the President or President-Elect when necessary
- Evaluate each event and program at its conclusion and provide feedback for improvement
- Utilize PYP’s Slack channel for regular board communication
- Download and become familiar with GlueUp to assist with attendee check-in as needed.
