The Chair of Networking is responsible for planning and organizing monthly networking events that cultivate the general membership and introduce PYP to new members. These events include, but are not limited to, Young Pros Happy Hours and Coffee and Conversations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plans and organizes monthly networking events, ensuring engaging and valuable experiences for attendees.
- Manages the networking@pensacolayp.com email to facilitate communication and coordination regarding events.
- Oversees the planning, setup, and cleanup of networking events ensuring an engaging and well-coordinated experience for attendees.
- Manages member and attendee check-in at networking events to ensure a welcoming and organized experience.
- Assists with capturing photos at networking events to document participation and promote engagement within the community.
- Assists with identifying sponsorships and partnerships to support networking events.
- Finds new ways to engage members at networking events through icebreakers and conversation activities that foster connection and networking.
- Ensures that the tab is opened and closed at Young Pros Happy Hours to manage expenses effectively.
- Identifies opportunities to host joint networking events with other professional organizations and assist in finding sponsors for networking events.
The Chair of Networking reports to the Vice President of Connection and serves on the Connection Committee, playing a vital role in enhancing member engagement and building community within PYP.
Responsibilities of Chairs as Members of the Leadership Team
The mission of Pensacola Young Professionals is to develop, retain, and connect young professionals to the community and each other. Chair positions are a part of the leadership team, but are not voting members of the Board of Directors. Chair positions are entry-level positions designed to provide members with opportunities to get involved in the organization and learn more about the organization.
Each individual Chair is expected to:
- Know the organization’s mission, policies, programs, and needs
- Participate fully in their committee and attend board meetings when called upon
- Prepare for and attend all program meetings
- Regularly attend organizational events and provide assistance as needed
- Serve as active advocates and ambassadors for the organization and assist with identifying financial resources, sponsorship opportunities, and partnerships necessary for the organization to advance its mission
- Help identify personal connections that can benefit the organization’s fundraising and reputational standing
- Communicate with PYP members—new and established—to solicit their ideas and help them become/remain actively engaged in the organization
- Raise any general membership matters at committee meetings or to the President or President-Elect when necessary
- Evaluate each event and program at its conclusion and provide feedback for improvement
- Utilize PYP’s Slack channel for regular board communication
- Download and become familiar with GlueUp to assist with attendee check-in as needed.
