The Chair of Community Engagement leads the effort to connect PYP members with impactful volunteer opportunities and community initiatives. This role focuses on organizing, promoting, and fostering engagement in local nonprofit and charitable events that allow members to give back to the Pensacola community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identifies, organizes, and promotes community service (Service Saturday) volunteer opportunities for members, collaborating with local nonprofits and charities to increase community impact.
- Plans and coordinates the Community Development Roundtable events bringing members together to connect with local organizations, discuss community initiatives and programs, and foster dialogue with local leaders.
- Oversees the planning, setup, and cleanup of community engagement events, ensuring each event runs smoothly and provides a meaningful experience for participants.
- Captures photos at community engagement events to showcase member involvement and promote future opportunities.
- Manages member and attendee check-in at community engagement events to support efficient event organization and attendee tracking.
- Assists with identifying sponsorships and partnerships to support community engagement events.
- Assists the Vice President of Community Impact with managing the volunteer board.
The Chair of Community Engagement reports to the Vice President of Community Impact and serves on the Community Impact Committee, helping to shape and expand PYP's presence and impact within the community.
Responsibilities of Chairs as Members of the Leadership Team
The mission of Pensacola Young Professionals is to develop, retain, and connect young professionals to the community and each other. Chair positions are a part of the leadership team, but are not voting members of the Board of Directors. Chair positions are entry-level positions designed to provide members with opportunities to get involved in the organization and learn more about the organization.
Each individual Chair is expected to:
- Know the organization’s mission, policies, programs, and needs
- Participate fully in their committee and attend board meetings when called upon
- Prepare for and attend all program meetings
- Regularly attend organizational events and provide assistance as needed
- Serve as active advocates and ambassadors for the organization and assist with identifying financial resources, sponsorship opportunities, and partnerships necessary for the organization to advance its mission
- Help identify personal connections that can benefit the organization’s fundraising and reputational standing
- Communicate with PYP members—new and established—to solicit their ideas and help them become/remain actively engaged in the organization
- Raise any general membership matters at committee meetings or to the President or President-Elect when necessary
- Evaluate each event and program at its conclusion and provide feedback for improvement
- Utilize PYP’s Slack channel for regular board communication
- Download and become familiar with GlueUp to assist with attendee check-in as needed.
