PYP’s Fun-Filled Field Day
Saturday, November 16, 2013
PYP’s inaugural Fun-Filled Field Day was a tremendous success! On Saturday, November 16, PYP partnered with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwest Florida and FamiliesFirst Network to fill Seville Square with kid-friendly games and activities.
Several hundred Bigs, Littles, adoptive parents, and adoptable children attended this great event, enjoying a bounce house, sack races, egg tosses, hula hooping, face painting, and much more. The goal of the event was to provide a fun, game-filled day in support of two great local organizations that serve our area’s children. Part of PYP’s mission is to act as a catalyst for positive change in our community, and PYP hosted this event to raise awareness within its own membership and the community at large about the opportunities to serve as a child’s mentor through Big Brothers Big Sisters, or to become an adoptive parent through FamiliesFirst.
PYP would like to thank all of the sponsors of and donors to our Fun-Filled Field Day: Pensacola Moving and Storage, Pen Air Credit Union, Lemox Coffee Company, Home Builders Association, Ollie’s Neighborhood Grill, Publix, First Baptist Church, Kent’s Special Events, Hillcrest Baptist Church, Millers Ale House, News Radio 1620, Pensacola Sports Association, Meg Burke Photography, Angela Nguyen, and MESS Hall.
Here is the thank-you note to PYP from Peggy at FamiliesFirst Network: “On behalf of our FamiliesFirst Network staff, our adoptive families and our “waiting children,” I wanted to thank all the members of the Pensacola Young Professionals who made our Fun Day in Seville Square possible. Over two hundred of our folks came and I have heard from many of them about how much fun they had. Additionally, I believe we made several possible adoption matches and 4 children for sure met their prospective adoptive families for the first time at the event. Your members obviously care very much about helping our community and we appreciate everything you did for us.”
A Midsummer Night Soiree
The Museum of Commerce
Friday, June 28th, 2013
PYP and friends had a wonderful time at our “Midsummer Night Soiree,” where everyone enjoyed excellent food and drink, great live music, and many superb live and silent auction items. The event netted over $6000 and a portion of this amount will go to the Health and Hope Clinic, PYP’s designated charity beneficiary from the event. Thanks to Special Events Chair Leia Triplett and her team for organizing a fun event!
Check out some of the event pics on Facebook here. And thanks again to all of our wonderful sponsors (listed below) who helped make the event a success!
PYP 2013 Annual Dinner
PYP held its Annual Dinner at the Blue Wahoos Stadium and it was a huge success. Thank you to all who volunteered to organize the event and to everyone who attended. See some pictures of the event here!
PYP Packed the House
The Fish House, that is! PYP members and many community guests enjoyed a political forum on August 7–PYP’s second political forum of the summer. Almost all of the candidates for City Council, as well as Mayor Ashton Hayward, were in attendance. Collier Merrill emceed and led the lively discussion and debate.
PYP is committed to providing its members and the community with opportunities to learn about local issues and build relationships with our civic and business leaders. It is our hope that this political forum helped prepare our members as election day draws near.
