A Letter from the President

Dear Pensacola community,

I am proud to have been given the opportunity to serve as president of Pensacola Young Professionals for the last year. This has been a rewarding experience. There are many wonderful people involved in PYP with great energy and passion.

One of the things we focused on this year was member engagement. We listened to our members’ wants and interests to refine our approach with after-hours professional development engagements and Saturday service initiatives. We strengthened our Saturday service by partnering with Keep Pensacola Beautiful to adopt our own park – Dunwoody Park in the Cordova area, where we aim to serve the community by helping to protect the environment at least once each quarter or more. Furthermore, our new strategic layout made the membership journey through PYP more cohesive to the CASE as we aimed to Connect, Advance, Support and Engage our members.

In addition, our executive team and board committed to the expansion of our inaugural special events through our efforts with the Youth Peace Walk for International Day of Peace in September and Legal Kids Day last summer with the Boys and Girls Club of the Emerald Coast! We also participated in a Leadership Exchange with a group of about 70 community leaders from Lafayette, LA as they sought to highlight Pensacola’s “burning platform” of retaining young talent.

Moreover, we implemented and engaged our advisory council. Many of those council members were involved in our strategic planning from last year and have continued to provide wise counsel as we move PYP forward. Advisory council, we appreciate you!

I also want to publicly thank:

  • Our current board for their commitment, donated time, and for all their hard work to ensure we had a successful year.
  • Our members for rising to the occasion in this community. Your ongoing support of PYP initiatives is incredible.
  • Our Executive Director, Meg Burke, for her guidance, encouragement, and genuinely keeping the best interest of PYP at her forefront.

As we move forward with our future as PYP, I know that we will continue to elevate the C.A.S.E., especially under Justin Oswald’s incredible leadership as incoming president. Justin, you have this organization’s full support. PYP, we all should be pleased with what we accomplished this year. Almost all of what we set out to do was looked after. I salute every single member, board director, the executive team and supporters of Pensacola Young Professionals.

In closing, I thank you for allowing me to serve as your president. My main personal goal in this role was for us all to have fun together while developing ourselves and others as young professionals. My expectations were exceeded.

Very Respectfully,
Ebony Cornish, President 2022-2023
